141 Miles is operated by Total Emphasis LLC, a New York limited liability company. This policy covers what we collect when you visit the site, sign up for the newsletter, create an account, or submit content like Sand Dollar picks, town tips, or prices. Plain-English on purpose. No tracking pixels we don’t disclose. No selling your data. No training third-party AI on what you write here.
What we collect
Newsletter signup.Your email address and the region you picked (north / central / south / all-shore). On submit we also store a hashed version of your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string as proof you opted in (CAN-SPAM evidence), plus the timestamp.
Account signup. If you create an account, we store your email and a hashed password, or your Google account ID if you sign in with Google. Your account links to your Sand Dollar picks, saved places, and any contributions you make. You can delete your account at any time from the profile page.
Contributions. When you spend a Sand Dollar, save a place, submit a town tip, report an error on a place page, submit a price, or confirm a place attribute, we store what you submitted plus a reference to your account. Price photos are stored on Vercel Blob storage. Tips and submissions are moderated before going public.
Technical data.Like every website, we receive your IP address, browser type, and the page you requested. We use Vercel for hosting and basic traffic analytics. Vercel’s analytics are cookieless. We also use Google Analytics for traffic patterns, which does set a cookie; see “Cookies” below.
Crash reports. When the site errors, we send the stack trace to Sentry (our error monitor) so we can fix the bug. We do not send your email, password, or any form input to Sentry.
What we do with it
We use your email to send the Down The Shore Report newsletter you signed up for, and transactional messages (sign-up confirmation, password resets, welcome). We use your account data to keep your picks and contributions tied to you and to prevent abuse. We use hashed IP + user-agent to rate-limit bots and document your consent if a deliverability complaint ever shows up.
Who else sees your data
We use a small set of vendors. Each one sees only what they need to do their job:
- Beehiiv — newsletter delivery. We push your email and region to Beehiiv after you confirm your subscription. Beehiiv stores it and sends you the newsletter. Their privacy policy.
- Resend — transactional email (confirmation, password reset). Sees your email address and the message we send you. Their privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosting + cookieless analytics + image storage. Sees request metadata for every page. Their privacy policy.
- Turso — database hosting. Stores your account, picks, and submissions. Their privacy policy.
- Google — Google Analytics for traffic patterns + Google OAuth for sign-in. Their privacy policy.
- Mapbox — static map thumbnails on place pages. Their privacy policy.
- Sentry — server-side crash reports. Their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Turnstile (via Vercel BotID) — bot detection on forms. Their privacy policy.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t share it with advertisers. We don’t train any AI model on your account data, your tips, or anything else you submit here. We don’t embed Facebook pixels, TikTok pixels, or other social-network tracking. If that ever changes, we’ll say so in this policy first.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to show you the data we have about you, delete it, or hand you a copy. If you have an account, you can delete it yourself from the profile page. If you only signed up for the newsletter, you can unsubscribe from every email’s footer, or email us. California residents have the same rights under CCPA. New Jersey residents have parallel rights under the New Jersey Data Privacy Act effective 2026. For anything else, email keith@141miles.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Cookies
If you have an account, we set a session cookie so you stay signed in. If you use the admin section, there’s a separate admin cookie. Google Analytics sets its own cookies for traffic measurement. We don’t use any other cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Your browser can block any of these and the site will still work, except for sign-in.
Children
141 Miles is for adults planning Jersey Shore trips. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you’re a parent and your kid signed up, email us and we’ll delete the account.
Updates to this policy
When we change this policy in a way that affects what we collect or who we share it with, we’ll update the “last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, send a notice to subscribers. Old versions stay on file; email us for one.
